As a Lake District photographer, I just love it when I’m able to do an engagement shoot in the Lakes too! This is one of my favourite places in the world and when couples ask where they can have their engagement shoot, I always have the Lake District up my sleeve. There’s so many stunning views, vistas, landscapes and everywhere you turn there are jaw dropping views to feast your eyes on. In fact, I love it so much I had my own Lake District wedding there four or so years ago.
Lake District photographer
Emma and William are to be married at Healing Manor Hotel in Lincolnshire in the summer of 2020, and chose to have their engagement shoot in the Lake District. Emma’s grandad has a similar photo to one we managed to recreate, with the epic lake view in the background. I hope these photos are ones they’ll treasure. Lodore Falls is one of Emma’s favourite places in the world and I have to say, it’s one of my favourites too. The best time of year to see it is, is when it is in full force, of course that means when the weather’s wet! That’s what brought us here on this windy and wintery day and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Lodore Falls
Lodore Falls is somewhere you could almost miss if you drove too quickly. It’s set back from the road, surrounded by woodland and forest. Someone, once upon a time fell in love with this place as much as we have however, and a hotel has stood overlooking the falls since the Victorian times. Recently renovated, this gorgeous old building has been brought firmly into the 21st century with a spa onsite.
It was a wet and windy day, but this only added to the atmosphere. The choppy waters on the lake and Emma’s windswept hair added to the day. It was wonderful to have the weak winter sun peep it’s way between the clouds however and we were able to capture a few moments with that light passing over them both. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to dry William’s soggy feet after he stepped into the stream!
Bring on a summer wedding!
Good to hear however, is that the weather didn’t dampen their spirits, my energy, but their dog was definitely the happiest to be there! I love that I can incorporate all members of the family when I do engagement shoots. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a trip out and for us all to get to know each other! I’m not sure if their little best friend will be making their wedding day, but I hope that spending these few hours with their Lake District photographer have put both Emma and William at ease ready for the big day. Knowing your photographer certainly erases any worries you may have on that score.
