Wedding photography a year in review : 2024 has been such a brilliant year, with so many weddings all over the country! I have so many stories to share, enough to make a whole podcast series, but in this post I’ve managed to make a selection of images, and stories.

Some mind blowing statistics for you:

  • 43 weddings photographed
  • 51,622 Photographs delivered
  • 12 different counties visited
  • 12,000+ miles travelled to and from venues
  • Estimated average guest count of 100 – that’s 4300 people I have met!

Becky and Sam’s wedding was the first of the year at Manor Rooms in Hull. They were so fortunate to be the first couple to make use of the new cottage for wedding preparations next to the main building – it was so new, you could still smell the paint!

Being a friend of my wife, I felt the pressure on this one. They were such lovely people and Manor Rooms was the perfect choice for them. Gorgeous!

Bernie and Rob celebrated their wedding at Elsham Hall and it felt so good to be back at this venue. Elsham had recently re-opened under the amazing management of Heidi. Being in the wedding industry for many years, Heidi came onboard to revitalise and bring back the spark of Elsham Hall. She’s completely overhauled the place and turned it into one of the top wedding venues in Lincolnshire to get married at.

Bernie and Rob made the absolute most, and we couldn’t resist exploring the grounds.

Aiden and Natalie held their wedding at the stunning Wootton Hall in Lincolnshire. This you can imagine was one of the funniest because we share a name, although spelt differently! Repeating my own name and hearing it being said all day felt rather odd!

This wedding was so much fun but also incredibly hot, I remember stood at the front of the ceremony at this super classy venue. I wore my hat to protect my head, and felt so out of place! I was sweating so much my eyepiece in the camera became steamed up as guests were sitting under umbrellas to try and shade themselves. Good old British weather! For Natalie and Aiden it was absolutely no bother and they had such a magical ceremony in front of the gorgeous Wootton Hall.

Wedding of culture at Manor rooms – Bianca & Sinan

Bianca and Sinan was a wedding with the international distance. Although getting married at the stunning Manor Rooms – they travelled from all parts of the world. Bianca had travelled from Romania and guests also from Iraq – it was incredible to meet such a lovely bunch of people.
One thing I will say about this wedding – they did NOT stop dancing and it was such a beautiful moment. Everyone was smiling for the entire day and it was full of such energy. I don’t think I sat down once and made sure to get right in the middle of it all.

Kai and Todd at Cripps Barn

This wedding was quite the journey – taking me almost 5 hours to get there the day before due to rain and floods! Cripps Barn was right in the middle of a red flood warning, but this didn’t put a dampener on their day. Such gorgeous Autumn colours!

Cameron and Kira at Dower House

Cameron and Kira, the best way to describe these two? They were my perfect couple. From their initial meeting to their engagement shoot and their wedding – we clicked on absolutely everything. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relaxed at a wedding, and still caught so many perfect moments! These two are such a beautiful couple inside and out.

Their wedding was at Dower House in Woodhall Spa, it was a venue with such history with the entire town being based on an old RAF base. The military feel had long gone but the uniqueness of this venue was stunning. These two held the ceremony outside in the garden under the willow tree.

Elegance and Class at Rise Hall

Caroline and Nathan had their ceremony in a quiet little village just a short walk from their home and then held the reception in Rise Hall. I have recently blogged this one, so you can see a larger collection from their wedding.

Lucy & Mike at Middleton Lodge

As many wedding photographers might know, this venue is one of the venues that has it all. In the UK it’s rated as one of the best. So having the opportunity to have this combined with such an amazing couple – I was in my element.

Bawtry Hall, Charlotte and Gaz

Charlotte and Gaz picked Bawtry Hall for their wedding, a wedding venue not too far from me – it was refreshing to be close to home. On the morning of their wedding it was heavy rain, but the advantage of this, it makes the greens pop out so much later on when it all settles. This was exactly what happened and it turned into a beautiful spring day. Bawtry Hall gardens were the perfect setting for all their guests.

Charlotte and Mark at Reindeer, Sandtoft

Mark and Charlotte are close friends of us – so this was one wedding we heard so much about and helped with the planning as much as we could offer. Charlotte and Mark chose to get married at Reindeer in Sandtoft because it fit perfectly with what they wanted from a wedding venue. And what a day!

I knew a lot of people at the wedding, so this was initially a stressful one as you always get that anxiety building up to a wedding. When the day finally came, it was such a fun day and their thank you card is still on our mantlepiece!

Maria & Callum on a very windy day at Saltmarshe Hall

This was an epic wedding day, with Saltmarshe Hall the perfect choice. When I say it was windy, it was so windy we couldn’t go outside and trees were falling over! But nestled up in Saltmarshe Hall you wouldn’t have known what was going on outside. It certainly gave ‘movement’ into Maria’s wedding dress!

Tickton Grange, Yorkshire wedding with Danny and Stephanie

Tickton Grange is a venue I have been visiting for many years for weddings and it just gets better. Danny and Stephanie were full of so much happiness on their wedding day – it was contagious.

Stephanie chose to have a pearl headband and it complemented her dress perfectly. It really suited her!

The dream venue – Dunedin Country House, Ellie and Grant

Ellie and Grant were absolutely hilarious – in the morning the moment I arrived it was non stop having fun. They got married at Dunedin Country House which is a beautiful venue in East Hull, this venue offers so much and is always a popular choice for couples.

One of my favourite shots from the wedding was when Ellie cried (happy tears!) during the ceremony and Grant wiped away her tears. These moments are what makes me appreciate what I do as it was so personal and loving.

Eloise and Isaac, Lazaats Wedding Photos

Eloise and Isaac day at Lazaats, was once again another stunning Hull wedding. My favourite part about this venue are the gardens around the back. During the day the guests can escape and its like a maze! Lots of fun!

Lucy and Joe in Cambridge at Childerley Long Barn

These two connected with me so well, with their passion for conservation. Talking about trees together I was in my element. If anyone knows me well, one thing I love to do is grow rare trees as a hobby. And yes, for anyone who knows me well, I am going on about trees again!

On their day I took them a Wollemi pine as a gift, and I couldn’t have imagined two people caring more for it.

Emily and Drew, a Vicar in training and Owston Hall Hotel

Drew is currently in training to become a Vicar himself and just before the ceremony they had a private prayer around the back. It was such a special moment to witness and one thing that sticks in my head is how passionate and meaningful the words were that Drew said. These two are absolutely in love.

Emily and Drew was one of my first weddings in the winter season – it was a cold day that was for sure, the church had recently lost its heating, so one thing to remember was how cold my fingers got! These two took it on their chin and had the most special ceremony. The reception at Owston Hall Hotel was brilliant!

Highfield House wedding photographer, Emily and Kieran

This wedding was another close one, being so close that Emily’s parents live just next door to me! Emily and Kieran hadn’t been planning their wedding for very long compared to most but they put their absolute all into it – and it showed! I think Emily’s sister did help with her magic too.

On the day I met so many people I know, it was once again one of those weddings were you just feel like its hanging out with friends for the day. The best bit about these weddings are that you really get up close and personal and get those true documentary images.

Emma and Stu’s wedding I haven’t photographed yet but they had their engagement session ahead of their day as a chance to get to see me work with the camera. I always recommend to every client that this is a great choice.

Being open to the public, there were so many people around, but that’s nothing photoshop cant fix! I removed so many people on this beach – until my computer got involved!

Back to Saltmarshe Hall and it felt good to be back. This year in 2024 I have been all over the country but haven’t been at Saltmarshe as much as the previous years. What an epic wedding to come back to – Fiona and Stuart.

These two had the black tie and dresses which fits the style of Saltmarshe Hall perfectly.

Fraser and Summer’s engagement shoot was something a little different – its not often you have the opportunity to photograph on their family farm and get to go anywhere. I had photographed Fraser’s brothers wedding the year previously and couldn’t wait to do their engagement shoot.

Back to Tickton Grange – the second time this year for Hannah and Darren’s wedding.

First time back in the Lakes for Helene and Glenn’s wedding and my first time to Merewood Country House. This venue is situated overlooking lake Windermere and only down the road to where I got married myself. It felt good to be back!

Jessica and Cameron had a rather unique wedding at The Royal Toby Hotel.
