I love being a Middleton Lodge wedding photographer. Its one of those venues it comes easily, the epitome of perfection with Lucy and Mike’s day no exception, its one of those weddings that make everything easy. They had their day exactly the way they wanted, with the sun delivering beautiful weather in the most elegant setting. We had the most gorgeous natural light all day, through the big windows or whilst outside. And anyone who has read my blogs, knows my favourite thing is natural light for the dream wedding day.

In the morning, Lucy and her friends and family got ready in the cottages within the estate, the perfect place for morning preparations for the bride and her guests. It was a super relaxed morning full of constant laughs. The word banter would be an understatement, just how it should be!

Lucy’s dress was stunning, with a beautiful bow on the back – the perfect look for her personality. During the day it offered some superb opportunities for photograph’s – one of my favourites is the photograph of her and Mike walking away from the camera. With the back of the dress fully on show it showcases how beautiful it really was. I’ve personally wanted to visit Middleton Lodge for so long and when Lucy originally got in touch I was over the moon. I think I counted down the days as much as she had.

Fig House outdoor wedding ceremony

The grounds at Middleton Lodge feel like you are in a different country all together, combined with the perfect weather it was inspirational firing up creativity. With various different locations for the ceremony, whatever the weather throws at you. These two chose to have an outdoor ceremony in front of the Fig House, offering incredible opportunity for wedding photography, giving you those Tuscan vibes, with Emily Rose singing them down the aisle and keeping everyone entertained throughout the meal. I think I’ll let you see the photos to see how beautiful this was! After the ceremony instead of a cake cutting they had a champagne pour – which is perfectly framed by the doorway.

Throughout the day, Lucy and Mike chose to not have most of the traditional wedding events like speeches and the first dance, instead they wanted it to be casual so they could spend the time with their guests. The perfect wedding day, the whole day. This allowed for so much more flexibility within the day and zero pressure to do anything. Due to this, I was able to catch lots of portraits of the guests in the garden around the fig house.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Fig House, a huge orangery come conservatory. Remember I said about it feeling like Italy? The food was gorgeous, what a place to eat and drink on a summers day. Surrounded by their stunning flowers, and the greenery the venue offers, it was out of this world. The large windows overlooking the garden are pieces of art framing the grounds perfectly.

During the portrait session, a vital bit of your wedding day when it comes to wedding photography. We were able to make way for little slice of time, to explore and walk around Middleton Lodge’s walled garden, capturing images of the bride and groom in various locations during the portraits. There’s so much space, and so many flowers, we were spoilt!

They then closed the evening with the most spectacular fireworks outside the fig house that seemed to never end. With an ice cream truck parked outside the Fig House, guests were treated to a yummy and cooling treat. The evening reception was just as stunning with a real indoor / outdoor feel into the gardens. The party itself was bouncing and great to photograph!

Finished with smores around the fire, amazing! I will remember this wedding for a long time, and can’t wait to be at Middleton Lodge again soon. A wedding photographer dream wedding!
