Laura and Jack’s Yorkshire engagement photography was a last minute, soggy affair. I say that in the nicest possible way! It rained – a lot. This ended up being an awesome thing as we changed plans and I would say that the results were better for it. We had such a giggle and I’m now all guns blazing for their wedding this August.

Yorkshire engagement photography

Laura reached out to arrange their engagement shoot on the same day as her make up trial. A brilliant idea as it allows her to see how her make up will look on her wedding day, through the camera. It can be really tricky to understand how wedding make up needs to be different to everyday make up. It needs to last all day, through so many moments, for a start. Not only that, but in a similar way that TV presenters need certain types of make up, so do brides. This isn’t to say you have to have anything, or not, but as with anything wedding make up artists are just that, artists fully prepared for what wedding make up needs to be.

It absolutely poured with rain as I pulled up at the location, but luckily this was short lived. We got some gorgeous photos on a local walk, followed up by some great photos back at their house. They’ve lovingly restored their home and so it was an honour to capture some images there – plus have a really good nose at allllll the house things. It was a perfect opportunity to get some relaxed photos of these two and build an awesome connection ready for the photography on their wedding day.

Tipi wedding

Their wedding plans involve a church wedding, followed by a tipi reception in the garden at Jack’s parents house. I love this sort of wedding! As they’re a family affair, they always seem to be so much more relaxed. They’re incredibly personal too as there’s so much history, plus so many more ‘small touch’ details involved.

Love this engagement shoot? Me too! I can’t wait to photographer their tipi wedding at their families home. Home weddings are always awesome – check out what this couple did for theirs!
