As Emily and Patrick’s Yorkshire wedding photographer, shooting their day at Sledmere House was a real treat! The wedding was held in the heart of Yorkshire with everything happening in the one location! However, you wouldn’t think that when you look at the photos. Bridal prep and speeches were held in Sledmere House itself, the ceremony in a stunning church and the reception meal and party in a stunning converted wedding barn. All of this surrounded by the green of Yorkshire! Whilst blogging this wedding, I’ve been reliving some of the moments. It was hard to pick just a few images from the couples day. The church managed to achieve intimate ceremony, but yet it looked oh so grand. I love it!

Sledmere House Wedding Photographer

As a location, Sledmere is a beautiful house with so much to offer. I was in a wedding photographer dream with so many stunning backdrops and elegant details. Emily and the girls got ready upstairs in the main house, which meant we could use the incredible decorations and windows with such beautiful light flowing through. Windows from floor to ceiling, antique decor and THAT staircase. I was over the moon when I was told they would be using the entrance hall and stairs for speeches. With everyone gathered around, Patrick looked like he could be a great landowner or politician speaking to his crowd. Those are still some of my favourite black and white shots. Don’t forget the indoor confetti too, so different! Plus, by being able to use the staircase and handy ol’ gravity it meant they were able to be truly doused in all of the beautiful colours.

Country house wedding, church wedding, barn conversion wedding… Sledmere has it all!

Whilst everything is so close by, Emily was still able to make the most of a Tesla borrowed from family for the day. It was the first time I’d seen one of these bad boys used as a wedding car and, I must confess, I had a little bit of fanboy moment. After the church, we took a few moments In front of Sledmere to get some stunning couples shots. Sometimes you really have to work to find a range of backdrops, but not here!

Party Sledmere style

In the evening, everyone got so drunk. I feel like all I ever say is that I’ve never seen guests being so drunk at a wedding. But this being a Yorkshire wedding the partying had that certain extra.. something. With shots galore and dancing from the youngest to the oldest it was such a great atmosphere. Plus, I must have done something right as I’m shooting their friends wedding this year!
