Chloe and Luke’s Pheasantry Brewery wedding was my first time at the venue. What a place it is! It sits on High Brecks Farm next to a working brewery in the Nottinghamshire countryside near East Markham. There are barrels, red brick barns and open fields everywhere you look. It only takes one wedding at a time, so the whole place feels like yours for the day.
Sunflowers, braids and Bobby the pug
Chloe got ready at her parents’ house with her bridesmaids, all in lilac. Amy Cole did her makeup and Sophie Amelia gave her a beautiful braided hairstyle with soft curls. The bouquets from Sage and Satin Floral were full of sunflowers, pink roses and wildflowers. They set the colours for the whole day.
Chloe’s locket necklace sat with the rings and her perfume for a flatlay, one of the shots she really wanted. Later her bridesmaid fastened it on while Bobby the pug kept an eye on things from his bed.
Her mum and dad saw her in her dress first. Her mum didn’t last long before the tissues came out. Then the bridesmaids turned round and the room went up!
My second shooter Pav was over at the boys’ house, where Luke and his groomsmen got into cream suits with lilac ties. Luke had his tie straightened and his buttonhole pinned on.
A barn full of light at Pheasantry Brewery
Pheasantry Brewery sits just off the A1, with a red brick barn, big green doors and the brewery itself right next door. The ceremony barn has white beams, draped fabric and huge windows. It has to be one of the best lit venues I’ve photographed.
The barn was dressed with a floral arch at the front and sunflowers on the aisle chairs, in the same bright colours as the bouquets.
Chloe walked in with her dad. Luke’s face when he turned round said it all.
There were plenty of smiles through the vows, then it was back down the aisle and out through the green doors.
Confetti, Bobby and the bridal party
Guests lined the path outside the barn for a proper confetti throw. Then Bobby arrived in his little harness and Chloe was straight down on the ground in her dress to say hello.
Then it was time for the family photos, followed by the bridal party in lilac and the boys in cream.

Sunflowers and speeches in the glass barn
Chloe and Luke got a proper cheer as they walked into the glass roofed barn for the wedding breakfast. The long wooden tables were covered in sunflowers and wildflowers.
Food came first, then the speeches. There were happy tears at the top table and plenty of laughs from the room.
Through the afternoon there was a dessert table full of cookies from Cookie People and a caricaturist sketching guests, which kept everyone entertained.
Barrels, fields and a big old tree
We decided on couple photos on the day. Pheasantry gave us so many options.
We started among the stacks of brewery barrels, then the huge shutter doors, the wheat fields and an old tree with a rope swing. Chloe and Luke made full use of the grounds and it all ties back to the brewery.
Back on the lawn the tug of war got surprisingly competitive, with bridesmaids and guests all pulling for their side.
First dance and a packed dance floor
First dance was at 8pm under the glass roof. Then Ben Matthews got the party going and the dance floor filled up from the first song.
Chloe had a dance with her dad and the floor stayed busy right to the end of the night!
Photographer’s tips
Pheasantry Brewery wedding photography tips
- Use the brewery for photos. The barrel stacks and farm buildings are a short walk from the barn.
- Pick your ceremony spot. Say your vows in the barn or out in the gardens by the Pagoda.
- Book some lawn games. Tug of war kept everyone laughing between dinner and the dancing.
- Allow 15 to 30 minutes for couple photos. Fields, barrels and a big old tree are all close by.
