Hi, I’m Aden

I already know Riverlands, inside and out

If you’ve booked Riverlands Wedding Barns near Howden, just west of Hull, you’ve picked a beauty. As a Riverlands wedding photographer I’ve been there for Olivia and Josh’s summer barn wedding, Lindsey and Phil’s sunny October wedding, Laura and Greg’s boho wedding and Katie and Lewis’s wedding, back when the venue was still called The Barns East Yorkshire. So I already know the barns, the courtyard and where the light falls best, whatever the weather does.

I’m a relaxed, natural wedding photographer with over 17 years and more than 500 weddings behind me. My job is to make you both feel at ease, so you can soak up every minute of your day while I quietly capture the real moments, the happy tears and the belly laughs, exactly as they happen.

I live just over the Humber in North Lincolnshire, so Riverlands is an easy drive and travel is always included. I photograph lots of weddings around Hull too, from Bunny Hill in North Cliffe to Saltmarshe Hall near Howden. See more on my Hull wedding photographer page.

Why couples book me

What it’s like having me at your wedding

01

Like having a friend with a camera

Guests often ask if I’ve known the couple for years! I keep everything calm and easygoing, blend in and catch the glances, hugs and happy tears as they happen. No stiff, awkward posing.

02

Couple photos in 15 minutes, not an hour

A few gently directed portraits, usually 10 to 20 minutes, by the red tractor, the shepherd’s hut or out in the fields. Then you’re straight back with your guests, drink in hand.

03

I stay until the dance floor empties

The Big Package has no time limit. The first dance, the band and the late night dancing are all covered. Often around half of your gallery comes from the evening.

Riverlands photo spots

Riverlands wedding photography: my favourite spots

The brick ceremony barn

Old brick walls, wooden beams and fairy lights, with soft light pouring in. Greg wiping away tears as Laura walked down the aisle in here was a proper moment.

The courtyard and the pergola

Greenery and festoon lights overhead make it the perfect spot for drinks. Lindsey walked in under these vines with the October sun pouring through. It’s where lots of the best candid photos happen.

The fields and the country lanes

Open fields and quiet lanes stretch out all around the farm. They’re perfect for relaxed couple photos and a big bridal party photo. Laura and Greg even had a go on space hoppers out here!

The red tractor and the shepherd’s hut

A red vintage tractor, a black timber barn and a green shepherd’s hut give lovely colour and texture for couple photos. Lindsey and Phil’s tractor photos are some of my favourites.

The dance floor

Once the lights go down, this is where the best candid photos happen. Every couple I’ve photographed here has had it full all night!

I’ll plan all of this around your timings, so nothing ever feels rushed.

Planning your timings

Your Riverlands wedding day, hour by hour

01Getting ready

I’ll arrive while hair and makeup are under way, whether you’re in the farmhouse, the cottage across the road or getting ready at home, for the nerves, the laughs and the little details. Natural light makes all the difference, so I’ll always find the best spot in the room.

02The ceremony

The brick ceremony barn is full of soft natural light, so I rarely need flash. I stay quiet and out of the way, catching your faces as you see each other for the first time.

03Drinks reception

Confetti on the path outside the barn, then drinks in the courtyard under the pergola. This is where the candid photos come thick and fast. Group photos are quick and organised, so nobody’s kept from the drinks for long.

04Couple photos

About 15 to 30 minutes of relaxed couple photos, usually in the middle of the drinks reception, around the tractor, the shepherd’s hut and the fields. If timings are tight, we’ll do them after the wedding breakfast instead.

05The evening

First dance, the band or DJ and plenty of dancing. With The Big Package there’s no time limit, so I’ll be there until the dance floor starts to empty.

06After the wedding

A sneak peek preview within a week, then your full gallery within four weeks in an online gallery you can share with family and guests.

And when the sun goes down

I stay for the party

Most wedding photographers leave after the first dance. I don’t. At Riverlands the evening is where it all happens, from the first dance to the very last song, and some of my favourite photos of smiling, dancing guests have been taken right here.

How much does a Riverlands wedding photographer cost?

My packages start at £1,650 for The Day Package, which covers bridal prep through to the first dance. The Big Package, with no time limit, is £1,900. The Album Package adds a 12×12 leather album and presentation box for £2,400. A £400 deposit secures your date. You can see everything on my prices page.

Have you photographed weddings at Riverlands before?

Yes! Have a look at Olivia and Josh’s summer barn wedding, Lindsey and Phil’s sunny October wedding, Laura and Greg’s boho wedding and Katie and Lewis’s wedding, from back when the venue was called The Barns East Yorkshire. I know the barns, the courtyard and the best spots for photos, so you can leave all of that to me and just enjoy your day.

Where are the best photo spots at Riverlands?

The brick ceremony barn, the courtyard under the pergola, the red tractor and the shepherd’s hut, plus the open fields and quiet lanes all around the farm.

Is Riverlands the same venue as The Barns East Yorkshire?

Yes. The Barns East Yorkshire was renamed Riverlands Wedding Barns. It’s the same family farm at Faxfleet, near Howden.

What happens if it rains at Riverlands?

We get creative! The brick ceremony barn and the wooden reception barn both give us shelter and lovely light. I carry flash and backup gear for any weather too. Rainy day photos are often the most atmospheric ones in the gallery.

Where is Riverlands?

Riverlands Wedding Barns is at Beeches Farm in Faxfleet, near Howden, just west of Hull. It’s surrounded by open fields and nature reserves. It’s also an easy drive for me from North Lincolnshire.

Can our guests stay at Riverlands?

Yes. Riverlands has accommodation on site for up to 20 guests, so the morning can be really relaxed. Getting ready photos are easy when everyone is already in one place.

Can we bring our dog to Riverlands?

Two of my Riverlands couples have had their dogs with them on the day. Olive lay calmly at Laura and Greg’s feet for the whole ceremony! It’s a farm with plenty of space, but always check with the venue first.

How far ahead do Riverlands couples book?

Riverlands is exclusive hire, so there’s only one wedding there at a time and popular summer dates go early. It’s worth checking your date with me as soon as you’ve booked the venue. If your date is sooner, still ask. I’m always happy to check.
