Owen and Stu’s same sex wedding, was quite possibly my favourite wedding that I’ve photographed at Cleatham Hall. Now, if you’re reading this thinking, well, that’s not fair, hear me out!

Summer same sex wedding

Firstly, the sun shone all day – it was wall to wall to blue skies so all of the guests were immediately happy (I mean, I’m sure they would have been anyway, but wet feet in wet heels can make anyone grumpy). Perfect for the summer wedding and outdoor ceremony they had chosen to have. This of course was beautiful, right in front of the country house of Cleatham Hall. A few hearts and flowers decorating the chairs, they didn’t need anything else as the surroundings was their decor.

Wedding inspiration

In the morning, both Owen and Stu were so chilled. Along with a few friends they were putting the last minute touches to the days festivities – bring out the limbo, hoopla, tin can alley and of course what every good wedding deserves – hay bales! As guests began to arrive and gather on the patio, they were in the bridal suite upstairs, getting ready together. Now, over the years I’ve been with many a bride or groom whilst they’re getting ready, but to get ready together on the morning of your wedding, is something truly intimate and personal. It was a magical wedding photographer moment.

Cleatham Hall, Lincolnshire

Cleatham Hall itself, just off the A18 into Lincoln, is a prestigious wedding venue in Lincolnshire. It offers so many options for wedding ideas, which this couple put into practice! After coming down the grand staircase together to meet their parents, both sets of parents headed off down the aisle. They then split off around the outside of the chairs to meet in front of the registrar. The beauty of any wedding, gay or straight, is that surely we’re now at a point where anyone can do anything for their wedding? This was the first time I’d seen an entrance like this and I loved it, it worked for them! Cute!

Smoke bombs and sparkler photography in the summer

After sharing their matching wedding rings, it was time for more chatting, couple photography, a delicious meal and speeches. I got so many candid photos at this wedding, I’ve had to cut down even more from my original cut into this blog. I love a smiling face and happy moment and there was oodles of them. The couple were desperate to have smoke bomb photos, and that is what they got! A rainbow of colours, and behind the scenes a little bit of coughing (but that could have been due to the smoke!).  And here’s my final reason for loving this wedding… an email I received asking where to get love heart sparklers from… well, that’s a trick of the camera. 🙂

Love this same sex wedding? Then check out this couple doing it their way, in a very DIY way in North Lincolnshire.
