This Yorkshire couple shoot took place in true Yorkshire style – rainy weather, by the coast and with a pint in hand! I met Jemma and Emily at Robin Hood’s Bay, and whilst it was chilly, the village was fairly busy and as quirky and gorgeous as ever. We met for their couple shoot with plenty of months to spare before their wedding day, and although circumstances (I’m not saying the C word!) meant their wedding had to be postponed, I’m so excited that it’ll finally be happening soon!

Yorkshire couple shoot

For those who have have been to Robin Hood’s Bay before, it’s a fantastic little village that doesn’t look quite possible to have survived. It stubbornly clings to the cliff, but whichever angle you look at it from, it’s pretty impressive. We met at the top of the hill for their couple shoot and managed to work our way down the steep and winding paths and roads to the sea front. It’s not a place for high heels! Now, ever the one to treat myself, after our little wander I suggested that we needed a break and so ducked into the Bay Hotel for a pint. Note: I stuck to cola as no one needs a dodgy tilt on their engagement photos! Both Jemma and Emily are so laidback and went along with all of my suggestions, and adding plenty of their own. This meant their couples photos will truly reflect who they are individually and together as a couple.

Lake District wedding photographer

Emily and Jemma’s wedding is to be held at Broadoaks Country House near Windermere in the Lake District. I’ve had a good old sneak through their website and am very impressed that they’ve been voted one of the ‘most romantic venues in the UK’ by the AA. Clearly though – in the setting they have, with their stunning old country house – it screams romance. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone there and getting my creative teeth stuck into an already beautiful location.

I remember when I first spoke with Jemma and Emily, they had somehow found me through Facebook by searching for Lake District wedding photographers, which is crazy as they don’t live all that far from me. I’m more than happy though, as I’ll find any excuse to get back to the Lakes. However our paths crossed, I can’t wait for their wedding anyway, as they’re quite simply lovely, lovely people.
