Childerley Long Barn wedding photography

What a wedding to photograph at Childerley Long Barn in Cambridge… such a pleasure and such fun! Cambridge is such a beautiful city, smart yet olde worlde, and the venue truly reflected this. Childerley Long Barn has exposed wooden beams and has been restored to such a high standard for the guests. For the couples photos we snuck into a side building which hadn’t yet had any work done. This made for some fantastic contrasting photos of Ashley’s crisp white dress in front of the brickwork and woodwork, especially the way the light came through the lats.

Captivating couple photos

The staff at Childerley Long Barn were fantastic, letting us explore the grounds. That’s where we came across the boathouse on the lake. I’m a huge fan of The Notebook and it felt like all we were missing was the birds. These two were such fun and up for getting really stuck into this part of their wedding day, and it meant that we were able to get some really fantastic couples photos. Finally, we disappeared off into the fields to catch the sunset – we found such dreamy summer light – before heading back to the party. These two are such a genuinely nice pair, a perfect match.

Quick mention to the two singers in the photos who were brilliant, they had everyone up dancing which makes the evening photos here so much more entertaining.

Word of mouth

Mat and Ashley booked me as their wedding photographer, after I photographed their friends wedding in 2015. Matt and Hannah had stayed in touch with me and it was fantastic to catch up with them last summer. The majority of my weddings come from word of mouth. In fact, I’ll be shooting two more of their friends wedding soon, who I met at this wedding! To me, this is the definition of a photography job well done.
