London can be a very busy place – full of adventure.

Sophie and Dan contacted me a few weeks before the date to book in a family portrait session and we ended up doing a London family photoshoot. Dan had recently started a new job and this meant traveling to London was a lot easier, making it the perfect location for an urban photoshoot. A big contrast to the year before! Not only was the location a big difference, but so was the inclusion of a little person! Sophie was 6 months pregnant at the wedding and for the Lake District shoot (where was the baby hiding though? I have a bigger belly after a McDonalds drive thru!) so the family of two had become a very excitable three.

Meeting them on the platform at Doncaster train station, we made our way down to London. After a feast of a picnic, Eliza’s spilt drinks and Dan’s hilarious train stories we made it to Kings Cross! Lucky for me, Sophie and Dan knew how to navigate the tube as it had been some time. Eliza was in her element as there was lots of new friends to make on the way. There was something about her cute face and willingness to talk to anyone that meant people were actually talking underground! As a Lincolnshire lad born and bred, this always gets me whenever I go to London. I think we all need to pack an Eliza to travel to the big smoke.

During the weekend, we made base at a hotel in Canary Wharf and spent our time exploring some of the big hitters in London. My favourite bit was the trip to Camden as this has a personal attachment to me. Camden is the very place I proposed to my wife and was the perfect spot for this London family photoshoot! The market is full of energy and happiness, very much reflecting Sophie and Dan’s personalities. We were able to make use of such a range of places for family and couples photos, the well organised lights in one of the shops made for a gorgeous backdrop and really played on my love (photographer’s OCD) of straight lines!

Travelling home we were all shattered. London gave us so many opportunities for gorgeous photos and lots of happy memories were made on this photoshoot. I always look forward to spending time in London and this trip was no exception. I’m so lucky to spend time with so many wonderful people on their special day, and it always makes me so happy to catch up after their weddings when their family grows.
